THE THUNDERBIRDS FINISH THE SEASON 15-14 OVERALL 7-5 IN BAY VALLEY CONFERENCE PLAY
The Thunderbirds complete the 2011-2012 Mens Basketball Season 15-14 overall and 7-5 in Bay Valley Conference play. On Valentines Day Feburary 14, 2012. In the first round of the Bay Valley Conference playoffs the Thunderbirds took on the Marin College Mariners at the Thunderdome. The Thunderbirds defeated the Mariners by the score of Mariners 63 Thunderbirds 79.
The Thuderbirds were led by:
Tyler Idowu had 19 points and 11 rebounds
Nick Capiti had 16 points and 10 rebounds
Eric Nelson had 13 points and 16 rebounds
Joshua Amey had 14 points and 6 assists.
In the conference semi finals playoff matchup Feburary 15, 2012 the Thunderbirds took on the Yuba College 49ers. The Thunderbirds were defeated completing there season.
The Thunderbirds were led by:
Nick Capiti had 20 points and 6 rebounds.
Tyler Idowu had 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Kareem Ransom had 10 points and 5 rebounds.
Eric Nelson had 7 points and 13 rebounds.

THE THUNDERBIRDS CRUISE TO VICTORY IN SOPHOMORE NIGHT VS THE CROSSTOWN RIVAL ALAMEDA COLLEGE COUGARS 95-80
The Thunderbirds came out strong in sophomore night up 14 at halftime by the score of 53-39. The Cougars were able to chip the lead down to 6 but again the Thunderbirds turned up there intensity and cruised to a 95-80 victory over the Alameda College Cougars.The Thunderbirds maintained there intensity throughout the entire game and passed the ball extremely well, as 7 Thunderbirds ended in double figures. The Thunderbirds finish Bay Valley Conference play 7-5 and Overall 14-13.

Nick Capiti had 17 points and 7 rebounds.

Sophomore night is full of festivities for our 7 sophomores please come and support Merritt College Athletics! The women play the Laney College Eagles at 5:30pm and the Men take on the Alameda College Cougars at 7:30pm.
